NEW YORK, August 18 (RIA Novosti).
More than one month after the date unexplained crash of the Malaysian passenger jets over the Eastern Ukraine asks Russia from the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon a report on the progress of the investigation.
"We are at the Secretariat a briefing on the progress in the implementation of the resolution request 2166", the Russian UN Ambassador Vitaly Churkin announced on Monday in New York. He pointed out that since the crash of the Malaysian Boeing already one month had passed and that the UN Secretary General, according to the Resolution 2166 , which decided after the alleged shooting down of the plane of the UN Security Council, have to report on the progress of the investigation.
The Boeing flight number MH17 had crashed from previously unknown causes in the embattled eastern Ukraine Donetsk region on July 17. All 298 passengers of the airliner which was en route from Amsterdam to Malaysia, were killed. In the region, the Ukrainian army and armed opponents of the government have been supplying months fierce fighting. The Kiev government and the militias throw themselves in front of each other to have shot down the jet.
The Netherlands took over the leadership of the crash investigation. The two flight recorders of the airliner were brought to the UK for evaluation. So far, neither were the data of the black boxes published nor presented investigation results.
